As I write this, I’m currently halfway through the loooong journey from Saudi to the States and sat at Heathrow airport waiting to do our last leg of our journey.
We’re heading over there for Christmas. When I was growing up, my dad spent many years working in New York and I wanted to show Tommy (my son) all my old haunts, and also, because we wanted to go somewhere really ‘Christmassy’ as we spent last Christmas in Saudi where isn’t allowed. I can’t wait to see the Christmas shop displays in Manhattan :-) I did take Tommy to New York a few years ago for my dads retirement party, but we were there during Hurricaine Sandy so obviously couldn’t really do much.
We have some family friends from there that I grew up with and we are joining them for a few days over Christmas in Connecticut where I used to spend Christmas as a child so I can’t wait. I haven’t been back to Connecticut since I was a teenager and I’m so excited it’s ridiculous! We used to go cross-country skiing through the wood, sledging down a huge hill and it was just lovely (although I don’t think there is going to be any snow whilst we there, some days it has been colder in Saudi than NY)!
